The Shoe College offers hands on classes, courses and programs in traditional techniques of European hand made footwear with a focus on hand fabrication. All classes and workshops are held in a working shoe lab in scenic Northern AZ. Classes are limited to 2-3 people assuring the utmost in personalized instruction.
MThe certificate program and advanced classes are led by shoe and accessories designer Tamera Lyndsay with over 20 years experience in the shoe and accessories design industry. Introductory classes may be taught by another qualified Shoe College instructor.

Tuition: $675 (us funds) COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introductory class is appropriate for every level. Students create a made to measure sandal using traditional hand crafting techniques and tools.

TOPICS COVERED:

* introduction to sandal styles & patterns
* leathers & materials
* basic foot anatomy
* leather cutting and configuration
* assembly techniques (glueing, cobbling)
* finishing and fitting

MATERIALS INCLUDED IN THIS CLASS:

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Fun introductory/intermediate 3 day workshop leads participants through the process of fabricating a pair of open toed mules or a peep toe slingback from the heels up using quality materials like leather insoles and full leather linings.
Learn hands on what goes into the fabrication of a ladies' pair of heels by making them with the guidance of an industry leader.
Learn fun facts about the twisting history of the high heel.

Couture shoe and accessories designer Tamera Lyndsay proudly presents this hands on 3 day workshop.

You'll be guided through the various processes from learning a quick easy way to make patterns to fabricating insoles to installing the shanks and lasting your very own new shoes.
All supplies and use of tools included to make your fabulous new pair of mules or slingbacks, made by you, for you! Emphasis is on hand fabrication and construction with very limited use of prefabricated, presized and shaped components thus empowering students to be able to make their own, unique shoes.

This is a fast moving introductory/intermediate class which covers many of the essentials which can later be applied to any type of footwear the student will want to experiment with on his own.

Couture shoe and accessories designer Tamera Lyndsay proudly presents this hands on 5-day intensive workshop.

You'll be guided through the various processes from creating your own patterns to installing the shanks and lasting your very own new shoes using quality materials and like leather insoles and full leather linings. Emphasis is on fabrication, not simply gluing together prefabricated, preshaped and sized components.
Participants have a choice between making a unisex fully adjustable lasted shoe or a slide on loafer which incorporates all the skills required to make just about any other type of shoe.
Includes all supplies and use of tools to make your fabulous new pair of custom-made shoes, made by you, for you!

Literally "get down to brass tacks" and learn everything from how to measure a foot, to cutting/assembly of the uppers and lasting the shoes.
Students will learn to use all basic tools and materials and will have time to experience the use of the tools and equipment needed. They will be provided lists of contacts and suppliers to help get them started after their experience at The Shoe College.

You'll be amazed at the lasted shoes you'll make in this class with just a few basic tools and a bit of critical know-how. This is a practical "hands on" experience for those obsessed with shoes and gifted with a bit of the crafter or handyman in them.

All materials to make 1 pair of shoes provided.

Tools are loaned for the class.

* Hand-lasting: Tacking, welting & glueing. (Lasting methods will be introduced but due to time constraints, shoes made in the workshop will use the glueing method or tacking method.)

MATERIALS INCLUDED IN THIS WORKSHOP:

* All leather, supplies and materials needed to make one pair of shoes, from the soles up.
* Lists of suppliers for everything you'll need after the workshop is over: tools, supplies & equipment.
* Loaned use of all tools and equipment needed to make your shoes during the course.

COURSE LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Bookmark and Share Students enter nine glorious days of boot heaven as they learn all the custom boot maker's top secret tricks of the trade. Students learn about leathers, foot measuring, fitting, finishing, welting, wooden pegs, stacking a leather heel, hand stitching side seams, installing toe caps, using crimping boards and so much more as they actually make a boot from start to finish in the shoe lab. Students make a standard wellington, western boot or high fashion boot. Materials to make 1 pair of simple wellingtons or fashion boot and all use of tools and equipment for the duration of the class as well as lunch is included.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

PROGRAM DETAILS:
Bookmark and Share The Certificate Program consists of either a minimum of 20 days of regularly scheduled class time, a minimum of 20 days of special course work or a combination of both. Students can use special course work to create prototypes or special projects in the shoe lab and dispurse classes and course work over a year's time for convenience (must be completed within 1 year of the commencement of the first day of the program and coursework is paid in advance). Students can " major" in a specific type of shoe or construction or receive a " general major" in shoe design and construction which consists of one each of gradually more difficult types of shoes, i.e. starting w/ a sandal, then heeled or wedge mule, then on to a fully lasted closed toe and heeled shoe, etc. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates receive a certificate of completion and become elegible for professional recommendations by instructors and the director of The Shoe College.
